Today I just want to have a chat.
As if we were sitting across from each other at a cafe watching the waves.
I would just listen at first.
You would tell me how hard life has been since the loss.
I would listen some more.
Until the tears came, until you sobbed.
Until you cleansed your soul.
Slowly I would ask if you wanted to start a new life.
And you would tell me how you don’t want it without your person.
I would understand.
Deeply.
To me, that is not extreme.
Dramatic.
Morbid.
It is true.
Life without our person is not something we want.
It is like our whole life lived inside of them.
When they were gone, life itself left with them.
And so, how can we want life without them.
It is almost an impossibility.
Can’t deny that. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
We start from right here.
Not wanting a life without them in it.
We feel that.
We know it to be true.
And we still take that first step towards a life without them.
It is a requirement for life reentry.
For the rebuilding process.
By the way, it was the song I chose to play at his funeral.
‘With or Without You’ by U2.
And so it begins.
With a thought.
A place of consideration.
A place to hope that it is possible to want life without them one day.
Maybe you would want life for yourself.
With just you, and all the new people that will come along.
With possibilities,
Christina
